Loro Piana Giraglia Cup -  an exceptional mix of coastal, inshore en offshore races (€ 2.178,00*)

The Loro Piana Giraglia is one of the most prestigious events of the year in the Mediterrean. According to the legend, the race was created on an evening in December 1952 when Beppe Croce, President of Yacht Club Italiano, René Levainville, President of Yacht Club de France, and Franco Gavagnin were enjoying a long dinner in a Parisian bistro. They envisioned the race from Saint-Tropez to Genoa as a challenge between yachts that could also be seen as a challenge between Italy and France that would favour relations after the Second World War.

The first race in 1953 brought together 22 boats. Today, over 200 boats meet at the start of the biggest race off the Mediterranean, both amateur and professional, and all kinds of yachts from all around the world. Serious competition on the water in the different legs of the event (the inshore racing in Saint-Tropez, and the offshore race Saint-Tropez to Genoa) is followed by serious fun in the evening. Given the area, the race includes different scenic views such as the passage between Port-Cros and the Île du Levant in the offshore race.

  • Saturday June15th Genova -  Official award ceremony - Award of Loro Piana Trophies and
    Challenge Trophies at the Yacht Club Italiano and departure to St. Tropez

  • Sunday June 16th Coastal trip to St. Tropez
